will a drag link stay together?

The drag ling end from the steering box to the axle had some play in it. I went to tighten it up, but the bolt part turns with it. I am waiting for a 2wd shaft to put in a crossover setup so I dont want to buy a new end piece. I dont want to drive all over town with it like this just to the shop and home while doing some other mods until the shaft gets here. What did you try to tighten up? If it was the ends where they connect to the pitman arm or steering arm they are non-adjustable. I have ran them fairly slopped out before and never had a problem, although I drive slow in an unpopulated area.
