Any suggestions on fixing the whistle common with the vent window latch?

Any ideas on how to fix the passenger side electric window that is picky? It will go down with the passenger side switch most of the time but never up. It can almost always be controlled both up and down with the driver's side switch. It never always works for all switches. I tried new switches to no prevail. Regulator maybe?

Thanks

if your little clipo things are loose. just shove a penny under it adn then close it..it will create more force to close the window and therefore whistle=gone

thats waht i did wiht mine...

^^ those are the cheap options

If you want to spend $ there are a couple options:

1) Search for used parts that still have good weatherstripping
2) New Weatherstripping - HUGE PITA to install... good luck
3) New Vent window assemblys (weatherstripping pre-installed - $125+ per side :eek1:)
4) One piece glass (search, $550+ :eek1:)

My brother tried #2, he was successful with 1 of 2 windows... and both still leak air, but only 1 whistles now. Installing that weatherstripping is a very frustrating experience, I would *almost* pay the $125 per side...

For the switch thing, only use OEM switches, everyone elses break like no tomorrow. Willing to bet its the pass side switch. To test this, pull the driver's side switch (which is working properly) and attach it in the pass side switch location. That will tell you if its the switch or not. To get good OEM switches, I have literally gone to the junkyard, pulled 5, bought 1 w/ exchange, test in parking lot, and keep going back in and exchanging until I found one that worked. Parts store = crap, LMC/chevyduty = crap unless OEM

i put new weather stripping in het actuall window tract part...that was a bitch enough for me. ugh inever wanna do that again, i cant imagine doing the vent windows.

I followed mine around with a stethoscope (yes, while driving for the D.S. window) and found air all over. I had to pull some of the stripping out and silicone it back in because air came in behind it. Then I trimmed some thin black sticky foam and stuck it to the exising "flaps" so that it isn't noticeable. Then I got handle rebuild kits to make the latches close tight. They work good now.

I think I siliconed one shut one time, and after I forced it open later, it still sealed. Maybe I was just lucky though.
