As many of you know, they didn't make these things easy to remove. Or, maybe I'm just unlucky. Either way, the center bolt holding this thing to the firewall will not budge. Do any of you have any tips or tricks to remove this thing (I've already tried liquid wrench and two different people wrenching on it)? I'd hate to have to pay a shop $65 (an actual quote; so long as I remove the hood before I bring it to them, otherwise it's $115) to do this for me. If I could only remove this one bolt....

On the same topic, I was trying to wrench the damn thing off today, and now my wipers are FUBAR. When I turn them on, then turn them off (to get just one up-down swipe of the blades), they bottom out where they should, but then rise back up to settle 1/3 of the way up the windshield (video below). You can hear the two clicks of the wiper switch in the video. I cut it on, then cut it off after the blades start moving up. They're already turned off before they start going back down again.

Any ideas what I messed up? I would like them to still operate normally until I can manage to remove the old motor.

maybe your wiper module is messed up? Idk if a 84 has this but mine was messed up and it corrected the issue.

Will removing the cowl actually help? The hole to access the bolt in in front of the cowl.

You're talking about the plug on the front of the wiper motor, near the top? Like, maybe I accidentally loosened it when I was trying to wrench it loose?
