Gotta rebuilt 4L80 coming this week, going in the 92 Blazer with the TBI454. From what I've read/heard, need to hook up 3 or so wirings, but having never seen one, not sure what wires I need to splice into the stock harness. Anybody have a wiring diagrahm or a link to this??

I could be wrong here, but I think the computer has to be programmed for that trans to work properly. I don't know if a non 4L80 computer can do this. I know that when swapping a 4L80 into a non computer vehicle you have to add a standalone computer to get it to work correctly.

yeah, I know this wasn't any help.

That's what I thought too. Might want to ask the seller if they can include the wiring harness and computer.

going to definately need the pcm or a standalone unit. its an electronic trans that requires stuff like TPS, dual working VSS sensors, gear selector switch, and a few other sensors to work right. its nothing like a 4L60/700r4 is to get it working. The swap can be done...ive done it, but its not simple.

He is talking about the stand alone TCM that GM put on the diesel trucks with 4l80e transmissions in 91 / 92ish

I would probably just pay alldata.com a visit and whip out the credit card since I have personally never seen a wire diagram for the controller...

I'm not saying this is the only way to put an 4L80-E into your vehicle, I'm saying this is one way.

$1300 bucks

After rereading your post, does this vehicle already have a 4L80 in it and you are just R&Ring it? If that is the case then it should be straight forward. There are electrical plugs on the tranny but you will see where they go when pulling out the old unit.

Sorry for adding or starting the confusion.

I've got the diagram, but I can't scan it. :(

From a quick count, there are 16 wires that go to/from the transmission, plus two for an engine speed sensor, and three for TPS.

1991 GMC light duty truck R, V and P models "Electrical Diagrams and Diagnosis" is the manual it's in.

I just took a photo of the page to see if it will be large enough to read, I'll see if it's legible and edit this post if it will work.

It does work, filesize is +2MB for each page though. Going to be a bit hard to work with, the manual is printed on like 11x14 paper so it's not something easily printable, although I guess on 8.5x11 you could tape it together. :) Want it?

Dorian, email it to me at zieglerdigital at hotmail.com and I'll re-size it to something a bit more managable :)

I've uploaded it to webshots, hopefully everyone can get at it this way, instead of it trying to make the rounds via email. :) People, play around with these images and make sure you can get the full size (2MB+) images. They need to be legible or I'm doing no one any favors. http://rides.webshots.com/album/560981462KlGuQq After you click on the thumbnail for pg1 or pg2 in the above link, upper right hand corner-ish, next to the thumbnails, you will see "full size". Click on that, and most browsers will give you a "fit to screen" view, which you can probably click on again for the REAL fullsize image. :)

You can probably resize it some, but it's the small print on the large page that makes it a problem. Resize too much and you won't be able to read it.

Seller has the ECM, harness from the ECM to the tranny, and as much as the chassis harness as he could from the firewall to engine/trans. It came out of a 91 van, so dunno how much is there. I have an ECM from a 94 350/4l60, I can get it reprogrammed for $200, I will have to double check with that tho. I really want to run a OD trans, 3 speed ain't gonna cut it on the highway. I have the NV4500 still, if I can find the parts for that, then maybe I will run that. A 454 5 speed SAS'd 92 Blazer would be pretty cool!!

when i swaped in my gas to gas 4l80 . i needed custom chip for tranny use only in second comp.

then raw tach signal/coolent temp/tps signal/map signal. these gave it all the info it needed along with its own vss stuff. then i split off the rear vss to feed my autometer speedo.

This is what the seller has told me as well. Should be getting tommorow, so we'll see.....
