So, I have now a 4th circuit that I need to re-write. The previous three (Trans, ECM-B & TL/CTSY) I have just re-hosted it from another circuit or just completely re-wire it. However, there is apparently a bad trend going on behind my fuse panel - and I feel that I must just tackle it head on.

This time it's the 'IGN' fuse - and the holder that feeds that circuit is badly corroded and is loose. The 12v side is fine. Truck starts just fine with that circuit down, but since I have other things hanging off it, its becoming a nuisance. I have to wiggle/push-in that fuse to get stuff working again ... but after a few engine starts, in comes loose.

Has anyone completely take off their fuse block to address the wiring behind it? It seems that the metal arms that the fuse blade sits in is part of the actual wire, so just "changing out the block" isn't going to solve my problems.

Since this is a '91, I have a bit more electronics going on - more than I feel that I could just get a Painless Wiring kit and just re-wire the whole damn truck.

Ugh. Thoughts anyone?

watching this thread..

Had no tail lights/brake lights found no pwr to the brake light switch but power at the fuse. ended up tapping off the fuse and running a new wire to the switch to get it operational. seem like its bad behind the block but yea, i did think of pulling the block to fix (or see if I could) the right way but didnt want to open a can o' worms. :dunno:

The fuse block in the cab has all the wires attached to it that work in the cab. In the engine bay there are three connectors that plug the engine, front lights and the rear lights into the back side of the fuse block. I put the wiring harness from a 1990 into my 85 blazer. Its just a matter of keeping the circuits you need. You can use a 90 or 91 Blazer or Sub or ONE ton Crew Cab.

Believe there is a thread here where someone found the metal strips that the wires are attached to. Probably not a fun job, but if the panel is bad and you can't find a replacement, not much else you can do.

I believe the panel is fine; just the metal strips/ends that the blade fuses sit in are becoming garbage. I will keep digging around for that thread. I think that is what I need. The question remains if there is enough slack in the wires to separate the panel and ID the wires on the back before they all get unplugged. That would be a cluster f.

Thanks Dorian. I just ordered some of the connectors that Bria1990 had ordered. I saw that they had the female terminal ends that the fuse ends sit in.

I am not really forward to it, but i think I just need to bite the bullet and address it. I am also worried that there isn't going to be much slack and i am going to be ending up pulling wires before I can label them. Wish me luck!
