been looking and cleaning up my stuff that is everywhere. for 6.2s i have 22 injection pumps, 27 sets of injectors. MANY starters and alternators (sp?) not even sure where they came from, just ended up with all of it. anyway, some of the injectors say bosh. some dont. if that matters. so is there some #s i should be looking for? that flow better or something? as always thanks

There are lots of differences in injectors & pumps.

For injectors there are long & short, '84 (first year) have coarse threads. Those are obvious differences and have to do with fitment rather than performance. Hi-Pop and Marine are the only ones I know of that deal with fuel delivery. Brand is, well brand and Bosch carries an excellent name brand.

Injection Pumps are all over the place. Stanadyne built all the stock ones. As for model numbers DB are mechanical and DS electronic. Since you have a 6.2 I'll stick with manual because electronic didn't show up until after the 6.5T.

If you look on the name plate you'll see a model # like DB2831 - 4911. Can't remember what the first number means but the second is number of cylinders so it's an 8 cylinder. The third and fourth number refer to a pump size, stroke, volume or something. The only numbers you'll see here are 29 or 31. Just remember the larger number, 31, will pump more fuel. If you are going to add a turbo the 31 will be the better choice. The last 4 numbers refer to specs the pump is set for in application. I've no idea of the variances here but for my 6.5T it was suggested to go with the 4911 which seems to be a standard. That's the pump I have, a DB2831 - 4911:D

Lots of good info except the first year was 82 with the coarse threads injectors.:D

First and only year for coarse thread injectors...
