Would this fit a 1979?

I found this on Craigslist this morning. You guys know if it would fit my 1979 K1500. Is a warn winch bumper carrier with grill guard. It came off a 1986 Chevy truck. I was going to gut the guards off and just use the winch carrier, if it would fit, or would it be hard to make it fit! thanks!

The ends of the frames are different for 1973-80 and for 1981-up, so front & rear bumpers don't directly match.

I imagine it can be made to work but will require some drilling. At the least it is not a direct bolt-up.

I've done it, on the top mounting bolt you'll need to use a 1"~1.25" spacer to make the brush guard line up right.

Also, on your 79 bumper brackets the top bolt uses an "L" shaped bracket. You'll want to add some webbing or gussets in the opening of the "L" of they will eventually crack and let the assembly lean forward and finally break.

10-4 I really just want to use the carrier, not the brush guard. Will the out line of the bumper in the winch carrier fit the out line of my factory bumper? That's my big question. I want it to look clean, and with the information you gave me I think I could make it work. I want to keep the factory look, at least until or if ever I lift it up some more! Then I want the ORD bumper!

Not sure what you mean by the outlines matching up. Here are pics of mine - 80 truck with 2" body lift and an old style Warn combo originally off of an 84.

That's what I want... So the frame will be same width on my 79? Or it should be. I want exactly what you got. Looks great. I guessing I will be taken a drive in the next couple of days and grab it before some one else does. Thanks for the help.

Oh yeah, same frame width and bolt pattern. It's just the shape of the 81+ bumper that forces you to use a spacer on the top bolts otherwise the mount will be tilted back too much and hit the grille.

Got this mounted up last weekend. Cleaned up a warn 8274 I got off craigslist. Just waiting on a roller fairlead.
