85GMCJD I used a 8"x2" ram...I internally limited it with a piece of DOM tubing welded(yup) with rosette welds to the shaft

I measured total stroke bumpstop to bumpstop on the steering with unlimited ram installed first so I could make the limiting sleave exactly right....Then when I reinstalled the ram, I also removed the factory bumpstops from the steering knuckles so there was no chance of a binding situation.
