So we put it back together after putting in a new oil pump just for good measure, and installed new balancer, distributor,water pump etc
still cross hatching showing on the cylinder walls
It still had the original nylon timing chain cam gear, So we changed that out to a double roller set
We found the engine had very minimal wear but a generous coating of grain dust and oil
really good set of big oval ports were nice to find on it
we looked inside the 454 after cleaning off all the grain dust covering it
