Can everyone tell me what your worst mod was you made to your K5???
Mine would have to be doing something the cheap way...
The money I saved came in handy for doin git again.. the right way...

Um... yes officer I know it's too big...

I went the cheap route when I built up my front driveshaft. It really needed a new CV and instead I just rebuilt it - cost more in the long run, my whole driveshaft was toast after that.

Rebuilding a rear 10-bolt with ARB, after it blew up, the 14-bolt went in, should have done that to begin with.

Installing a crappo exhaust kit, when I could have got a shop to bend some stainless pipe cheaper, but at least it works(barely...)

Warn Chrome Classic Winch Bummper! Waste of cash! Drags on everything. Has terrible approach angles. Anybody want to buy one??? Wonder if S.E.C will take it in trade??

Going to a crappy place to rebuild the engine. Ended up having to swap heads after a year. If I had it to do over I would have either gotten a crate motor from Chevy or Beck Racing Engines.

Chevy good...Ford bad

Putting in a used engine and not freshin' it up..

Has to be by far my carb Eldebrock 600. When I get past about 45degrees it tries to die on me. I need to get a quadrojet.

Going with heavy Rancho front springs before I new there was softer ones. Now my blazer rides like my one ton.

The only thing I can complain about is the Rancho Suspension. Other then that, i do a lot of research before I buy something. I will ensure that what I'm getting is EXACTLY what I want. I've found that when you buy something to "get by" you have ended up waisting your money on that part, plus when it fails you have to spend that and more to get what you should have in the first place.

All the money I've spent rebuilding my K-5 !!!!!!! I would never be able to sell it due to the money invested......Don't get me wrong I'm not selling my Blazer, but I'm getting tired of people asking me if I want to sell it!!!!! In life everything is for sale it the price is right!!!!!!! Just a vent........

C'moe

<font color=black>the blazer is "Back in Black"

I agree with you... everything is for sale... at the right price... and no amount of money can replace the busted knuckles, memories, and good/bad times in and out of my Blazer... I'll drive it till It blows up, then fix it and drive it some more!!!

Um... yes officer I know it's too big...

my worst mod was the 4.10 gears instead of 4.56 gears or even 4.88s. my best mod was the 14 bolt semifloater with a detroit

Rebuilding my 700R4 3 times. It was "bulletproof" every time. Converted to NV4500 in 1995. Ot was worth the hassle.

K5: Because size DOES matter

Worst mod I did was putting on a new rear quarter because the back bottom corner of the old one was crushed. Now i'm going to trim that same part off the new one. Thats some money I could've used for a th400/np205 combo. Best $250 I spent was on an Earl Scheib paint job, almost 2 years now and it still looks good to me.

My worst mod was really my dumbest move. Torque converter went out when it was stock and I decided to build up the whole truck. 1-1/2 years later it's almost running and I'm kicking myself for lack of 4x4 for that long.
