Greetings cK5-ers.

Picked up a ‘74 K5 a couple years back. Has 350 motor and 350 trans. Has never been started since I bought it. PO didn’t know much about the history of the vehicle either.

Finally getting around to to digging in to it. First step is to see if the motor will crank. (Was able to turn crank so it’s not seized)

Most of the vacuum and fuel lines lines to and from the carb ar missing. Can you guys recommend a good link or good pictures to a “dumbed down version” of how the hoses and lines are routed (assume stock set up).

I haven’t picked up a chitons manual yet and all the diagrams that I found on the web were tough to follow.

Appreciate any and and all help!!!

You'll need to give more info. Like what carb you got. You should just snap some pics of your set up and post em. You may need premium membership to post pics.

Route a line from the vacuum canister to what's called a ported vacuum source on the carb.
which means it will be above the throttle blades possibly on the main body of the carb Or on the passenger side. Or on the base plate but it will be higher than the throttle shaft blades,
the back of the carb or intake will have like a 3/8 hose going to the brake booster, there may be a T vacuum fitting near the back that goes down to the canister on the transmission,
There will be a bigger 3/8 hose on the front or corner of the carb that goes to the valve cover for your PC
If it's a Quadrajet there will be a little canister that's called a choke pull off and it's a short small hose that goes right to the left of your fuel line.
You may have a thermostat that they used a vacuum T on and you will need an exploded view of the vacuum routing for that, don't worry about the black coffee can size charcoal canister, it was just for emmisions, hope this helps, post a picture of your engine top if you need more help

Thanks for the feedback guys. I’ll have to upgrade my status over the weekend and upload pics.

DSREs explanation sounds pretty straight forward.
