That’s actually a really good idea!
While the tank drained tonight (about 20 gallons I had just put in the day it started leaking…), I went ahead and cleaned the cobwebs off the rear seat and bolted it in. For now it will get a cheap cover until this winter when the seats get pulled for proper upholstery.
I moved mine back in my '75. Helped with the crappy leg room.

Mounted all the seat belts last night, and got the turn signals and parking brake working.
Tonight I got the old tank out and cracked open to see how bad it was. Bad enough that it definitely needed replaced.
So other than tank and sender, I will also be doing a fuel filter.
If you look closely at the “A”, you can see the 2 pin holes of rust.

FedEx guy showed up and I went to town on the truck today. Tank is in and done minus the skid plate. Then replaced the broken regulator in the drivers door. Put it all back together and finally got to put the door panel on for the first time.
Once I was done with those 2 things we finally went for our first official ice cream run!
Unfortunately on our way out of the parking lot, I lost all brakes. Was able to get back home by down shifting and planning ahead.
No leaks that I can see under the truck, but this is what the reservoir looks like. Obviously there is a leak somewhere, but this also shows a proportioning valve issue correct?

That is some muddy fluid, check the rear wheel cylinders for a leak.
Drained the nasty fluid and topped it off with new brake fluid. Still don’t see any leaks anywhere. Brakes feel good, so for now I’m going to let it fly.
Went to Pop’s house and knocked out a windshield today. Great learning experience and a much needed change.

I would not think so much a proportioning valve issue as a rear brake wheel cylinder leak. Keep your eye on the brake fluid level and the inside of the rear tires for a leak.

How much of a PITA was it getting that new windshield in? On a scale of 1-used all the swear words I know?

It was the right amount of uggaduggas, just not as frequently as it should have been after new spacers installed.

There were cuss words, but I’d do it again. 1-10, I’d say it was a 5 or 6 difficulty.
All better! Going to lip it the block home and double check all the lug nuts. No real damage to speak of.
