‘76 K10 SWB Silverado "Pops"- Off to its new home!

Mostly stock rebuild.
So some back story.

A good friend of mine that used to be my boss at LKQ got into square bodies a few years back thanks to me. He’s collected a few along the way, but unfortunately passed away a few months ago due to COVID. His son, who I also grew closer to, has taken the reigns on consolidating his stuff and sifting through his collection. He asked me if there was anything I was interested in, and I told him I wouldn’t mind having one of his Blazers he had stashed away for projects later. He originally told me “sorry, but I can’t let those go just yet. They mean too much.” So I told him I understand and was here for whenever he decided to do anything with them.

Well, I got a text last night asking if I was still interested. Of course I said yes, and he said he was looking at parting ways with a ‘74. So I went and looked tonight, and was pleased to see it was still in pretty decent shape.

I asked him what he wanted for it, expecting to pay a decent amount as he knows what he has. And to my surprise, he said he was interested in trading.

Me standing next to my K10, was not prepared for him to ask for Pops as the trade.

After some thought and a chat with my dad, I/we decided to go for it. It will fit the entire family and is a much nicer platform to start with than the K10.

So here it is!

Picking it up Saturday and dropping the K10 off. I hate to see the K10 go, but ultimately I know I’ll be much happier in the long run. Plus, who doesn’t like a full vert Blazer?!

Ps, he’s not allowed to sell the K10 without talking to me first…

What is the drivetrain of the Blazer?

I'd say you made a good trade, but you also have a running driving truck currently.

Sorry for the loss of your old boss.

Are you sure that's a 74? Looks like a 75 grille but maybe someone swapped it.

I just think it's funny how often people have the year of their vehicles wrong. I was just looking at the keys for the 72 Skylark and someone handwrote a tag that said "71". Had me thinking it was really a 71 until I checked the title again.
