‘78 K5 Blazer- 38k miles and counting…

Literally all original driver that I will try my bestest to leave it alone and just enjoy it!
Ok so, you want some back story? Read the latest post on my crew cab build thread lol. (It’s a long post so grab a snack.)

Officially bringing this home today and going to do some more detailed photos and digging in to it.

This is how it sat in KC when we picked it up from the original owner a couple months back, for my dad.

It’s definitely not perfect, and that’s perfect for a daily driver with super low miles.

It does have some rust that my dad and I plan on fixing eventually.

The interior is literally perfect, and even has the factory carpet under this black carpet someone threw on top of it.

Holy cow that's nice. Total time capsule there. I had a customer with a '78 C20 that was low miles and minty fresh like that. I relished every time we got to work on it. The thing that reminds me of that one is the brightness of the needles within the cluster.

So cool to get something all original and unmolested! Excited to see what you do with it. What is that color called?

The Sunday after I got the Blazer, I decided to fix some radio issues it was having.

The original owner did some pretty hack work installing the Retrosound head unit, and the door speakers were in bad shape.

So I stuck some kicker 6” speakers I had in the doors for now, and mounted the head unit properly. I also removed a bunch of unnecessary wiring that was behind the dash.

Now the head unit is solid and the sound quality it tolerable.

Also, the small glimps of carpet you see is the original factory carpet. It is 100% perfect.

So for some reason the truck had 3 fuses blown that I discovered this week. Backup lamps, courtesy lamps, and dash panel lights.

The dash panel lights went out while driving home at night on Wednesday, which lead me to look into the rest of them.

Once replaced, they all 3 work fine.

So last night my boys and I took a short adventure down the “Scenic River Rd” that’s a few miles from our house. It’s a road that twists and turns and has some good hills to it. It also follows right along the Kansas river, so there’s plenty of opportunities to throw rocks at water from decent heights lol.
