‘82 GMC “Junkyard JIMMY” {Build bash Rebuild}

Maybe you should of waited for spring? I probably should of done that with mine instead of cutting it up for the dumpster

spring? Isn’t it wheelin season now? I got it out so I can take it to work and fix it up.

Ball joints are shot and I still need to weld on my bump stop cans & new hydro assist ram stuff.

I got tired of the Camo netting I was using on my cage so I decided to turn my soft top into a bikini top.

I laid it all out on the trailer to warm it up and get an idea of what to do

I removed the stitching and zippers.

Using stainless snaps from a boat canvas kit I screwed buttons to the cage and cut the top

I decided the rear triangles really block a lot of my rear view creating blind spots so they have to go.

the idea is to keep the side windows but have them removable.

Now it snaps to the cab

I used the old rear window to cover the back, now it has more visibility and I can roll it up if I want. 93FEC7CE-77B6-4588-839E-49C3A4831496.jpeg

Here it is for now. I still need to finish off the edges with some trim pieces and tie off the bottoms of the side windows but for now it should keep the kids warmer in the back.
Eventually I may just get clear vinyl and new material for the top.

I took the JIMMY to work for some upgrades.

Out with the old Edelbrock. That coolant plug didn’t want to give it up.

In with a Sniper EFI. I had to use a different thermostat housing to fit the coolant sensor under the hose.

The throttle is super quick. I’m going to get an extended throttle arm and dial it in for slower speeds.

I’m gearing up for a trip to the Rubicon.
