Ok, well new axle rebuild is almost done. Everything went pretty smooth for the most part. Here are the hiccups:
The biggest pain was the new U joints for both axles. Pressing them together hard enough to get the C clips in was difficult. Pressed together with a C clamp and only one side would go in far enough to get the clip in. In the end, had to pound them in, this made the joints tight. I guess over time they will loosen up. Also, once complete and ready to slide into the axle housing, the U joint would not fit through the hole in the knuckle. I had to pound it through, so not sure how I am going to get them out if I ever need to. Have to take the knuckle off I guess. These axles were not exactly OEM. I got them from LMC and they are a tad different as far as the U joint goes, a little bulkier.
The diff carrier was a pain maneuvering it into place with the connecting rod so close to the diff. The long side of the axle was a pain trying to get it through the inner seal, was afraid I was going to mess the seal up.
So the last thing I need to really figure out is the hub/rotor assembly. I have about 1/4" play between them and that's from pounding them in. I assume I will have to press them in the rest of the way like Obijuank5 stated. Then install the brake assembly, install the new Warn lockers (got rid of the MM's) and fill the diff up with some fluid, and cross my fingers. I really think that the leak came from switching from conventional to synthetic oil. That is when I first noticed the leak so I think I will stick just with conventional oil from now on.
Lastly, thanks everyone for all of the tips along the way.
