01 cummins engine oil leak at p/s pump adaptor

i know not gm. but lots of us have a cummins in 1 way or the other. any help would be great. thanks guys.

i have a 01 i am working on for my friend . its got a new power steering pump cause the old one rusted out the resivor. ran it for 10-15 min and blead system no leaks what so ever.

now that he has driven the truck 15-20 miles he has a steady drip of engine oil from the adaptor area were the power steering pump bolts to the motor. i recall feeling a seal in there when checking for the index of the pump drive position.

i have called dealer and thay say 90 bucks for a vacume pump seal/oring reman kit. is there any other was to replace this seal or do i need to reman the unit.

and if reman is in order what is involved in this job? thanks all any help would be great.

the drive on the p/s pump is a groved tooth slot.

now its leaking oil from the vac pump and looks like a seal/oring kit is needed.

thats a totally common leak on these engine. reseal everything there. you can loose alot of oil fast. $90 is a bit steep i think. I have a gasket kit for that in the garage. I think I only paid 70 canadian at my cummins dealer.

Napa sells a reseal kit ,there is a vac front seal and a sel between the P/S and Vac pump . There is a gasket @ the front cover to vac pump .

While the hoods up you might wanna tackle the KDP if not already done. If you no nothing about it do a search on "killer dowel pin" and lots will come up.

yes, there are even '02 I've seen with KDP failures.

got a link from other site i posted on for a full gasket and seal kit with spare seal incase of screwup and full isntuctions with pics and tools to drive seal in and out for 67.99 shipped.
