01 dodge 1500 clunking...

my dad has an '01 short box 4x4 1500 dodge and coming from the front is a clunk when u go from 2mph to about 25mph, it goes with the speed of the truck and i was driving it today and heard it, i first thought O...front drive shaft(because it spins in 2wd), but when i crawled under there its not loose at all.i just did his rear u joints, but checked them anyways and they are fine. it doesnt do it when i got on the gas but still did it braking...im confused on this one.

That is just the ram in the squirl cage bumping his head as it goes around...

My girlfriend had a 98 Ram 1500....It had the same noise. It was the right front drive axle u-joint. It went away about the same speed.

x2, Check the bearings also.

Lift up the front left tire and try the u-joint again, almost guarantee it's the problem.
