Got a friend looking at a 2004 Chevy 2500HD Crew Cab 4x4, 6.0L. All around good shape with 98K. Runs great but could use a good servicing. Owner says he has not serviced the transmission. I have heard good things and bad things about flushing a transmission with that many miles on a 4L80E, but should it be done? Also, what kind of mileage are people getting with similar trucks? I have heard anywhere from 11-15mpg. I know hes going to want do intake, exhaust, and some kind of economy/towing tune. Any input would be appreciated.

If it was me, I would just do a service on tthe trans with a filter, then do it a couple more times every 2-3 oil changes, and after about a year, you will have new fluid in it.

I hunted for my Silverado Classic; 6.0L/4L80E/K2500HD. If the price is right, go for it. Replace all oils with synthetics, replace coolant with anti-freeze and distilled water.
Bolt-on some Cognito steering parts.
I hope the one you're looking at has 4.10s.:wink1:
