My dad's Sierra 2500hd has a rusty frame cross tube. It has a gas tank strap mount as well as the right rear upper shock mount, both have rotted off. The tube is still good.

I can make a new, heavier shock mount and weld that on. I can even make a new tank strap mount if I have to. Just wondering if anyone here knows if someone makes a new mount to save me the fab time.

I did see a place called Autorust makes a frame tube for the 1500 but does not fit the HD. It's the weekend, I haven't called them yet.

My friend has a guy in the Kingston MA area who does frame repairs for him,he has had several 2000 & up GM trucks he buys at auction repaired by him--he's done a full frame clip from the cab back, several of the tubular cross members that the shocks and fuel tank attach too,and he's pretty reasonable..does nice work too.

I can try and find out the guys name & number if you want..

I can fix it, that's not the issue. Just trying to save truck downtime. It's his only vehicle and uses it for everything from errands to actual work.

OK,I wont bother asking him who that guy is..If I ever need frame work,I'd go see that guy though..after seeing his work and driving the truck he spliced from the cab back and it drove perfect and was able to be aligned properly,I'd say he is "Da man!"..

I've heard of the tubular cross member "repair kits" ,my friend almost bought one ,he said it was chessy thin tubing like an exhaust pipe, reminded him of a kids swing set tubing!..the one he saw was slit in two halves and had a flange to bolt them together around the old rotted piece..he had his frame guy fix it instead, the old piece wasn't really in good enough shape to just be "patched"..

Just make your own...mine is getting
to be to same way, with the rust. And i am in the same spot with the truck not being able to have any down time. :doah:
