I was driving my wifes car home from work the other day and the dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree.

Brake, ABS, TC, and Maint. lights all came on and the car started dinging at me.

pulled over and the brake fluid was fine so i drove it home, checked the codes and i got a P0705 transmission range sensor malfunction. My research shows that this is part of the neutral safety switch, but i can't find anywhere that this would cause the brake light to come on.

I just dont want to replace the one part, to find out it isnt the main problem, any ideas?

I just did a quick search and it came up with checking fuses and back up lamps? I dunno.

What engine does it have 2.4 or V6?

My SO had a Vue, forgot what year. It would go into limp-home mode, popping random codes for multiple sensors. After a coupla weeks of farting around with it, we determined it had corrosion issues on much of the wiring harness, as in maybe half the connectors were suspect and would need to be replaced.

Shortly thereafter it was traded in on a new car. No f'in way I'm fixing that mess.

I assumed that one was just a lemon built on a Friday, but maybe they're all crap. Were it me, I'd reset the thing and see if it pops the same code repeatedly. If the same code appears, reseat that connector, and examine it closely for corrosion.

If it's different each time, start looking at replacing the vehicle.
