I have an 05 chevy suburban 5.3 Z71. It gave me the "service airbag" statement in the message center. No trouble codes pop up from code readers. What could this be. And how do I get rid of it? Thank you!
My wife's 06 Tahoe has it too sometimes. The best answer I've found is the passenger sensor in the passenger seat that tells the system whether or not to arm the pass air bags
I had the same on my 07 Suburban, new body style and it turned out to be a front impact sensor. On mine there are two on a cross member behind the front bumper. I went to the dealer where I have a friend that came outside and downloaded my code to tell me which side it was, left or right cause they are different parts. I picked up a new sensor from carquest for like 60 bucks.
I read that if they are bad you can feel a slight bulging on the sticker side and I was able to on my bad sensor. They are usually easy to spot under the rig because they are connected with yellow plugs.
B0100 is for the LEFT EFS. First disable the SIR system to be safe. (disconnect batteries for 10 minutes) then pull the CPA clip off the left EFS and disconnect it...unbolt the EFS and look at the connector t see if any pins are bent or anything...You can also check the plug with a multimeter and see if either pin has a short to ground.
