i have a 2006 silverado flex fuel with a auto. i was jack assing around the other day and i pinned the throttle and it dropped into 1st gear and when it was supposed to shift into 2nd it slipped out of gear. now the fluid is still very clean but now i have 1st gear 2nd gear only if i manually shift it and 3rd after i get the truck rolling down the road. i went to autozone the other day and the only check engine codes i have found were BANK 1&2 were high i dont have the codes on me right now. I have checked all the fuses and there are none that were melted. i am lost right now is there anyone that understands transmissions that can help me please.

i dont quite understand your tranny problem, so if you went to drive it down the road how would it shift?

And for the check engine light, that sounds like its talking about emissions, so that is completely unrelated.

It will shift from 1st to 2nd if left in first when rpm is high enough. Third gear will not shift on its own you have to manually shift it

Have you checked fluid level? 3rd gear in a 4l60e takes the most fluid so even a little low could cause a no shift

May be a speed sensor not allowing upshift if you have to run the rpms up before it shifts from one gear to the next. Are you sure you actually have third gear?

yes the fluid level is good. and i am sure i am getting third but i also have no OD gear

so if you put it in drive and take of it never up-shifts?

you say you start in 1rst then run the rpm up and it shifts to 2cnd < thats right lots of trannys do that if you run it up high enough
Then you shift to D and it goes to 3rd? If that what you mean it sounds right to.

Is it shifting really hard? if your torqe converter clutch isn't locking up it wont allow you to get overdrive. Is it slipping at all just not up shifting.

This is cool just thought I'd throw it in here I love cutaways

if it don't move when you put it In drive your forward Sprag is broke. If this is the case DON'T drive it

the sprag is a one way clutch When you Put the selector in first or second the over run clutch is engaged to take some of the load of the sprag, this is for heavy pulling.

Man i just read you post again and did some searching Im pretty sure this is what happened when you pined it and downshifted it slams that sprag, then its off a fraction of a second and slammed again when second hits. It its gonna break this is the time.

I learned a Lesson here. If your gonna get ruff its best to use the manual 1,2,3 to protect the forward sprag.

In reading the original post again, I would have to agree that the input sprag is most likely the problem here.

i got it all apart today and it is the foward sprag its in pieces. everything looks good so maybe a rebuild kit will make it all happy again

You gonna get one of those aftermarket sprags. Might as well you'll only be out the difference since you've got to replace it anyhow.

im gonna go and get the monster in a box and it wil replace all the ****ty components with the sun shell
