Ok,
So, our 07 tahoe has developed the same rumble/rattle/slop over bumps that our 01 developed. Never solved it on the 01.

Tahoe has about 140k on it.

Any ideas on common failure points? I haven't been able to find loose end links, but thats pretty tough to find.

Suggestions?

Really don't want to just replace all the rear suspension bushings....

Does the rear have a panhard/track bar? I've seen the bushings fail in those on front linked suspension when we couldn't get any play out of it, but it was still causing death wabble until we replaced it. Maybe the same is happening to the rear?:dunno:

Can't find a good suspension layout pic right now. If I remember correctly, it's basically a parallel 4 bar with panard. So really, any of the link ends could be trashed. I just don't want to replace them all unless its necessary.

Leaning towards sway bar related after doing some more research. Need to check it out

Frustrating part about some of this kind of trouble shooting is you might not be able to manually find/ move the worn part, but the driving forces of the vehicle on the road do.

Went under the truck again. Sway bar end links, bushings, etc. look fine. Tried to budge them, no luck.

Any other suggestions before i start replacing everything?

sway bar end links would cause more of a quick "pop" noise. a sloppy thud noise i would think to be shock bushing or one of the five arms. get itup on jack stands from the frame so the axle is unloaded then take a pry bar and try to move the arms by prying at each bushing. if one is bad to the point its making noise it should be relativly obvious onceyou start prying the bushing around. check the sway bar mounting bushings also, if the bar is loose in them they will make a similiar noise. thats all ive got, good luck

also when checking the sway bar end links with the axle dropped and unloaded, grab the link itself and push up and down. not the bar itself.

Shock bushings, our '05 Avalanche has rattles, squeaks and bumping sounding components.

I jammed some small wood shims between the lower shock hoops and their brackets, it quieted down for awhile until they fell out.

I also tried replacing the bushing with some new off the shelf ones, lasted a few weeks as well. Not sure what else to do except buy new shocks, which it probably needs anyways.

Temporary fix for our current road trip. This usually lasts about a week or so.

Shim wedged in there to tighten up the slop. No more squeeky clunky popping thud noises.

Dang, not sure why the pic came out so big, sorry, doesn't usually do that posting from my phone.

Sounds like a decent way to test the shocks. Yet, ours only have like 60k on them.

May try and warranty them out through kragen anyways, as they were lifetime units.
