08 avalanche cam spec

Buddy of mine bought a 08 avalanche with a lc9 5.3. Needs a cam and lifters. I’m going to the junk yard tomorrow to try to find one, any ways does anyone know if that has vvt? And can I pull a cam from any of the 4th gen 5.3 or does it need to be a specific one?

watch out at junk yards pulling a good engine apart . lots of yards will charge you for the whole motor when you take stuff like the cam or a head .

i would just buy the whole thing and swap it . faster and less b/s . or buy a cam kit and basic tune and remove the vvt or dod stuff with a good kit and get rid of the problem lifters .

Thanks for the info, my yard doesn’t care what you do. You can pull a motor and disassemble it for 1connecting rod bolt. And they will charge you $2.
