My buddy has an 08 Silverado 1500. It has the factory 7pin trailer connector. He does not have the trailer brake controls(?) package. The truck is brand new and there is no corrosion on the trailer connection.
One of the pins is supposed to be constant 12v, there is no power going to it, I checked it with a test light.
The owners manual says "trucks without the trailer brake control package will NOT have the wire hooked up to the fuse box, but the wire will terminate somewhere below the fuse box. if you want power to the wire, you have to bring the truck back to the dealer so they can connect it."
So how do we locate the wire and connect it to the proper fuse?
And what were they thinking with this one, whats the idea behind it?

Most of the time, the circuit is connected but has no fuse in the slot. Otherwise, the connector that goes into the slot in the fuse box is gonna be taped back right under the box. Yes, they're punishing you for being a cheapskate.
