i have a 88 and it has a 44 front and a 14b 10 1/2 rear. i know the rear was added. my title says model v10, where i thought it wold be k5. whats up and which do i have. both axles are8 bolt.
thanks
You have a 1/2 truck that someone added 3/4 ton axles to. While you do have what we all know is a K5 in either 87 or 88 titles started saying "V10" instead of "K5", it's just a terminology thing.

You should also have a 10 bolt up front from the factory not a D44, maybe both differentials were switched by the previous owner /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
As far as Chevrolet, Uncle Sam, and the insurance companies are concerned, ALL K5's were actually K10's until 1987 and V's after that . K5 was a name on the fender only. /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif
