Does anyone know what front inner wheel bearings will allow my 8 lug hubs to fit to a six lug hub on a dana 44? it looks like my calipers from my 8 lug 10 bolt will work as well as the 8 lug hubs from the 10 bolt, but the wheel bearing is the only thing standing in my way now. i may just need the front inners from a stock 8 lug d44, but what did those come stock on?

first off what year dana 44 ?

there is 2 style spindle's .

if its the newer style its a direct swap spindles the same.

if older then just use your spindles from the 10 bolt.

dont forget the backing plates bigger on the 3/4 ton stuff.

Parts stores often times have both the early and later style bearings listed for all years. It will work with the correct spindle to bearing match but I would go buy both types, figure out which ones you need and then return the non used ones.

I used the bearings off of my 6 lug 10 bolt, and put them into my 8 lug 10 bolt. As I put new bearings in 6 months earlier. They were the same

Nice point sweet, but would i need odd ball spindle seals, or are they pretty universal? the spindles are definitely different size, but only on the inner bearing portion.

think the seal is the same size. but shouldnt matter as you will be using your later bigger stuff with the later hubs.

you get the seal for the year / model you are using.

OK, let me jump in and highjack your thread...

How do I put the 6-lug outers on an 8-lug Dana 44? Can I swap the spindles and backing plates or something else? I thought I read that it doesn't work to swap the knuckles. I have room for a bigger rotor, but I wasn't aware of a bigger one in 6-lug.

Edit: So the axle is "big hub" which should make it the earlier design? If so, I can still swap the backing plates, spindles and everything else outward? And the D44 axle shafts are the same on the outside as the 10B?
