I have a 1987 k5 and I am Wanting to swap over to a 1 ton what Chevy vehicles would I find the d60 and the 14ff without having to do a lot of conversions to it. Seems it might be easier to buy a whole truck than to find the 2 by theirself.

a good truck to look for with a 14bff/D60 r 1980s K30s or "3500" they made the solid axle K30s up to 1991. the only thing u will have to do is move the rear axle perches in a couple inches because on 1 ton trucks they had a wider spring seperation (not a big deal with a welder) OR u can find certain K20 pick ups that also have a 14bff. and u wont need to move the perches at all. but im not exactly sure what year the K20s came with 14bff. certain years came with different rear axles.

one more thing, if u find a set of axles from a dually pick up, u can use them but u will have to change the hubs because they r different. its just easier to find axles from a single rear tire truck.

I was having trouble finding one when I started looking, and ended up getting a 3/4 ton version from a place called "Just Chevy Trucks" on the web. At the time, their prices were pretty reasonable and the shipping wasn't really all that bad. My biggest thing was I didn't want to have to move the perches-hence the 3/4 ton version.

Don't know how things are now, but it might be worth a call if you don't have any luck at your local yards. They were nice to deal with and knowledgeable/helpful. Just a thought.

1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks had 42.5" rear spring spacing. 1 tons had 40.5" spring spacing.

Use a 1ton front end and 3/4ton rear end, no cutting the rear perches. Consider the np205 or 241 coming out of these trucks as well, the 205 cant be broke but the low sucks, and the 241 is pretty tough and it has a good low for a mud truck or street driven type mud truck. Neither will have the 95 to 1 crawl some of these guys swear by but they are effective with decent axle gears
