1" body lift issues

I am going to do a 4" suspension lift on my 71 K5 in the next few weeks and had a question about the body mounts. The body mounts are completely shot and I am going to change them at the same time. I have only dealt with early Broncos in the past and a 2" BL required a few adjustments to be made. I would like to do a 1" body lift unless it is going to create a bunch of extra work and fabrication. I am going to run 33's and I think it doesn't need the body lift for that but the extra room was nice on other vehicles I have worked on. Looking for a list of items that would need to be modified for a 1" body lift. Shifter, fan shroud, steering column, etc. etc. Thanks

Can't say for the first gen, but the only mod i had to do to my sec gen was the shroud... but I also ran a cable shifter..

That and your bumpers will be off... steering should be ok...

I think the 1" bl is a great mod... i like the slight clearance it gives between body and drivetrain for access...

Brake lines from master cylinder will need to be stretched a little.

As noted, the bumpers will be off. Up front that might cause some interference with the outer grille since it has a lip at the bottom that normally tucks underneath the bumper.

If you're body mounts are shot, you will probably be surprised how much lift you'll get just by replacing THOSE....

what can be done about that outter grill you're talking about? is 1" enought for that lip to actually sit on top of the bumper? What'd you all do with it?

Manual or auto? My dog house had to be trimmed to allow 4-lo. Also watch the fuse panel wires in the engine compartment.

It's a manual. I was expecting a few things, I just didn't want to get into a bunch of stuff with so many projects coming up and so little time. 1" is so little lift and unnecessary for the tires I want to run but I have always benifitted from a little body lift on other trucks.

i biult a 1.5" body lift for mine and new poly mounts. I sucked my mounts down extra tight since my cage is going to be directly linked to frame. I also run electric fans and a cable transmission shifter. I also cut more my fenders and grill area out for tire fitment and aproach angles etc that I really didn't have any issues with anything. I guess I am no help. But the BL does make it nice for working underneith and allowed me to raise my drivetrain quite a bit, stiull had to build my own tunnel cover though

I just installed the ORD 1" BL. I had to heavily clearance my fan shroud, and my auto trans shifter needs some adjustment. The bumpers don't look quite right, but I'm going to shine them on until I've decided on a good solution. It was more of a pain than I expected, but my body bushings were toast and my tires were rubbing so I thought I'd try to kill two birds with one stone.

Bumpers.
Any body lift will move the bumpers away from the body.
IMO it looks really tacky if you dont raise the bumpers with the body.

well i don't want to move my front bumper.. because my winch sits directly behind it and the fairlead is centered in the cut out section that used to be the front plate holder. Only consern is with the little lower grill piece that sorta curves under the lip of the bumper.. Any advice ?

a 1" BL wont look as bad as if you were doing a 3".
