I am upgrading to a 39' or 42' tire. Can Get some pictures of 1 gens with trimmed fenders. Also is there a 42' SS bogger? I can't find one.

I'm putting 39.5's on soon, I'll take pics when I do.

Only trimming on mine is the lower rear section of the front fenders.

Lucas, sweet K5.

Installed my 39.5's and found out I do need to trim a bit more...

Gotta trim both the front fenders (behind the tire) and the quarters (in front of the tire)

Plan on trimming on the line marked...until I find out different.

I have decided to upgrade to 42' inch ss tsl. I have these in 37's and have never been disappointed. What do you think????????
I highlighted the areas that I think I will need to trim. I will move my axles a bit to allow for more clearance.

Wow, their close in color. Your gray top looks better IMO.

I was considering 42's but chickened out...
Cost and the amount of trimming I would need decided for me.

The yellow areas look about right, same places I'll be cutting.

what about trimming on the inner rear fenders? or it wont' rub there?

Won't on mine, the rear axle has been moved forward 1.5 inches.
Kinda looks strange sitting forward like that but seems to work.

Have you got a larger photo?

My guess is that the forward edge of the front fender won't need to completely disappear like you have shown.

Also, the leading edge on the rear may not need much trimming once you move the axle back...I'd consider going more than 1" though....maybe 1.5 - 2" unless you've already moved it once. It takes at least 1.5" to center the wheel on a 1st Gen.

Remember, with a leafspring/shackle setup the wheel travels BACK in the wheelwell as it travels UP....on mine, I only really needed to heavily trim the trailing edges (admittedly, only for 38's though)

I'm sure with the width tire I’m going with the inside fender will rub. I have a solution to this however. (its long so I’m not going to type it. I'm thinking the best thing to do will be to put the tires on my truck. Then find out what needs to be trimmed. I'm not even sure that I’m going to move my axles

Screw it! i'm just gunna make sure they fit! what do you think

:eek1: Bye - bye inners...

Put on the tires your going to run, flex it out and see where it needs to be "fit"

i still think you need to trim into part of the removable top as well. just to be sure :haha:

I used a forklift and a sawzall to clearance my fenders for 38's. Left under 1/2" of clearance...
Then i went wheeling and somehow flexed it out harder! I guess i didn't clearance em enough! I'd say leave at least an extra inch of clearance when flexed on the rear part of the fender for both the front and back if you don't want em to get munched by your tires.
