1 gen fender triming???

Here is a few pics of mine. I took two sets of inner fenders and fabbed them together to make the inner rear fenders 6 inches wider on each side. The Krawlers are 37 12.50 17's. I cut the front tang off the front fenders and boxed in the bottom and the front inner fenders were cut and fabbed to connect to the outer fenders so it is solid and welded.

Oh and to get the custom trimming shown in the pics of the blue blazer just take your ride to minnesota and drive it around for a couple winters and that will happen automatically without any sawzall action.

NICE!!!

That rear fenderwell mod, is something I am planning to do on my own vehicle....quick question though: Are you running a narrower rear axle or a wheel with more backspacing than normal (3.75" or so)???

I run a 16.00"W Swamper on a van-width 14BFF...my wheels are the conventional 8-Lug WagonWheels with 3.75" BS. I have yet to rub on the inner fenderwells (rear) with that setup and my truck does 1000+ on the RTI.

I was only planning to do maybe 2-3" of widening per side, so now you have me thinking.... <- me, thinking

Do you have any clear pics of the rear of the truck with the final tire/wheel setup installed??? (What I mean is a head-on shot of the tailgate and rear tires to show wheel track, clearance, etc)

That is truly awesome. Thanks a lot for the suggestion. I had something in mind like that but more on my skill, and money level.

I like the gas filler mod, any more info/links to that?

My rear is a standard width 14 bolt full floater. Rims are 17 X 9 Pro comp extreme alloy 1059's with 4.625 backspacing or I think that is 4 and 5/8 in normal people terms. Aren't the van width 3 inches wider??

I had heard during my build that some guys were having trouble with rubbing the inner fender well so while I was having the body work done I figured I would cure that just in case it was going to be a problem for me. It might not have been. Besides I like the bling factor of tubs. I like trying to make mine unique!!

Hope the pics help

I also wanted to keep the tires from sticking out past the fenders to keep the cops from bugging me!!!!!

Gas filler lid was purchased from www.amp-research.com

It was the one Peterson 4 wheel and off road used on the ultimate avalanche. The one I ordered was for the Ford Superduty / F-150. There are definately cheaper ones out there now, but the wife thought it was purty.

Funny when the jimmy was a rustbucket it was my truck. Now that it looks different it is our truck!! Hmmmm. that's okay she sys I need to change the ugly steering wheel and replace all the lenses.

The body shop cut out the body portion from a mid to late 90's tahoe and took the filler guts also. Then fabbed that into the body of the jimmy after they filled the old location. Then they fabbed the box in the bed to cover the filler tube. The filler door fit right into the recess of the tahoe and just had to drill holes to bolt the door ring on. I also ordered more screws from amp research because of the way it was mounted compared to a ford. My son likes to point out the 2 different screw on top and bottom. Amp changed what type of screw they used after I ordered the door and before I ordered more screws. In the pic the top and bottom screw are different.

I always liked the clean look of getting rid of the stock fuel filler!

Thanks for the pics....that totally makes sense now.

My tires stick WAAAAY out with only 3.75" of BS (plus 16" of tire width)...the van width axle adds 3" to the overall width so the stickout is even more dramatic.

For fun, I did mount up one of my tires on an unmodified Hummer H1 wheel (7.25" of BS) and it stuffed underneath just like your pics show (there a pic of it somewhere in my gallery)....they would rub like mad once I flexed it out, but I like that mini-tub/fat tires under stock fenders-look also.

If I can keep the lift to a minimum on the new build, I might try to conceal the tires like you've done. The truck needs the extra track width for stability the higher it goes...

Found it: Hummer Wheel on a van-width 14BFF

I don't know about you guys but I like my tires sticken way out. The best part is leaving the mud hole and throwin' mud all over people! Hey.... they should know better than to drive behind a blazer.

Gas door

Hope you don't mind if I steal you idea, mines in the repair rust state so it is the perfect time to do the gas door treatment, thanks for the idea and the tech. Later J.

gas door

now you gave it away, I was going to go with dual tetescoping antennas with fox tails I've been saving from the sixties, now I guess I'll use a bunch of little stuffed animals on my dashboard as my sig. haha Later J.
Can I use 2 different screws like you or would that be going to far, you may be a trend setter

No on the 2 screws. You would have had to order it earlier and leave it sitting in the garage for a year and then realize that 2 of the screws / brackets wouldn't work and order more only to find out they decided to change screws.

Doing something now would just be a cheap imitation kind of like a remake of a classic rock song.

Hunk of Junk

Your wife sounds just like mine, when I first buy them for $700.00 she says why are you waisting your money on that pc. of crap, when it's dun it's Honey can I drive it??? Later J.

yep I was just informed tonight that she hasn't driven it yet. I told her you drove several times years ago. She says its not the same. so maybe tomorrow she will take a spin.

Hmm maybe she will notice something its lacking??? i see new mods in the future.

My girl doesnt mind me having the blazer, just the fact that it takes away from her q.t.

Okay, back to the matter @ hand...:surepal:

Spent a little time at the shop today.
One down and three to go.

Thats a nice job. I like how you made a uniform line to cut. I can't stand when people just cut a chunk out! I have decided to buy 14x42x16 iroks. So once they are on I will post some of my trimming pics. Thanks for your help guys.
