a np205 from behind a th350.. does it have the same input shaft as a np205 from behind a th400. if not do they make an adaptor for the different splines? or would it be better to swap input shafts also ...i'm converting a 2wd tranny for 4wd duty.

No.
No.
No.

The t-cases are completely different. The TH400-style case has a larger bearing, a female input and a slightly different housing. The TH350-style case can be modified but it requires machining. Definitely not a bolt-on application.

TH350, TH700R4 and SM465 share the same style input but with different shafts. TH400 is the bastard child in design but is the strongest.

There is a small bearing T400 NP205 .
So you just need the correct NP205 input for your transfercase & it will work

Here's a couple pics of the large bearing NP205 for comparison

Neither of us can view those pictures.

I can't even begin to imagine how rare a small-bearing 205 must be, though.

Not rare at all , any T400/NP205 85 & earlier would have the small bearing
32 spline input & figure 8 adapter.
(How do I post pics so you can see them ??????)

I just don't see how you can have a small bearing with an input shaft that's so much bigger. Everything I've read says that the female input shafts all use the large-size bearing. Here'a an example from ORD's web site:
http://www.offroaddesign.com/NP205tech.htm

Doesn't say anything about small-size bearings on the female inputs.

Anyway, to post pics that non-members can see, they have to be hosted on an external web site and img linked on your post.

i believe your pictures only show the difference between a long & short 32 spline input. both the 32's are large bearing cases.
