There are only two pics of the front axle, but it looks like a 44 to me, not a one ton as stated. ebay auction

Actually, it looks more like a 10 bolt after I looked again.

Actually it is a D44..it has 8 lug front wheels. The ad didn't say it had 1 ton front. He did edit the ad so maybe it did say it at one time

He may have edited it , I sent him a message after reading this post , saying it was wrong , and none of the real 4wd guys would buy it under false pretenses /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Its a 10 bolt.

It looks like he wants people to think its a 1 ton when the the axles came out of a 3/4 ton /sigh

I doubt it's a Dana 60 front axle [ QUOTE ]

This 1979 (maybe) Chevrolet ton 4-Wheel Drive Short Narrow Bed Pickup Truck is not what it looks like. It is a LOT worse. Since it was born as a 2-wheel drive truck it must have sprouted front and rear 1-ton axles and differentials and the body mysteriously remained from the 2-wheel drive body.

On Oct-31-04 at 19:10:27 PST, seller added the following information:

It has been brought to my attention the front differential may not be a 1 ton set-up. All I can say is it has an 8 lug spindle and 10 or more bolts on the front differential. The rear is a 14 bolt GM 1-ton? differential.

It says front and rear /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif Most people just assume 8 lug stuff is 1 ton. Many years ago I thought that 3/4 ton axles would be awesome because the front is much more HD, then I learned that they are the same as 1/2 ton. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif
