does anyone know how to tell the difference between a 1 ton and a 3/4 ton frame? i know about the rear springs being 56" on a 1 ton but is there something else you can measure if there are no springs on the frame?

one tons are slightly thicker steel. search for frame thickness.

The most obvious difference is in the straight section under the cab - 1/2 & 3/4 ton will be about 8" top to bottom while a 1 ton will be 11".

i measured 6 1/2" and 7" in different spots between the front cab mounts and the rear cab crossmember. i measured my K20 frame and it measured the same and i measured my 1 ton 2wd frame on my rollback and it measured 8". im a little confused still

If it measured more or less the same as the K20 it's not a 1 ton frame, there is a dramatic difference.

im pretty sure i have another 3/4 ton frame then. is there anyplace i can get exact frame measurements? i guess i should have mentioned the frame up for debate is a pickup truck frame and the 1 ton frame i measured is a C30 rollback frame

I have recently had in my posession and measured the thickness with brown and sharpe dial calipars a 84 k5 which measured around .160 thick also a 84 k20 which measured about .230 thick and a 86 k30 which measured also .230 thick.

For what it's worth:D

true 1 ton hase narrow rear spring hangers. thay stick off the frame about 1.5 " not like the 3" stick out on a 1/2 -3/4 ton frame needs.

and the main section is taller longer than 1/2-3/4 ton stuff. i have seen a few now to tell the diffrence by eye sight.

yep, i have another 3/4 ton frame. thank you for all the help guys. brett, do you still have the SM465 flywheel cover? i completely forgot about it until i looked at my PM box..
