First off thanks for looking .

I just bought a 85 chevy 1 ton srw for 1400.00 . D60, 14 bolt, 4.56 gears, 6" lift , 35" tires with nice 17" rims. i would like to put all of this stuff in my 74 k10 . Is it easier to swap the frame down or just move over the lift, axles, hydro assist, ect? Also is it possible to swap the bed and cab and keep the 85 steering column and wiring? interior pecies ect ? New motor and tranny will be moved either way.

Thanks,
Tim

All that stuff can be swapped into your K10. The spring perches will need to be moved on the 14bff in order for it to bolt onto your k10. Also you will need to get a 1310/1350 u-joint for your rear driveshaft to work, front should be okay. Swapping cabs is a pain.

You must love the looks of the 74 to contemplate swapping the cab to the K30 frame. If I can give my $0.02 I would sell the 74 and just keep the already setup k30 unless you have a smog issue. Then I would move your 74 cab with its vin to the newer K30 frame and fit it with all the 80's wiring and steering column. It will be a lot of work and might need some custom work to make the dash fit properly.

I'd hate to kill the k 30 too but to each their own. Definitely easier swapping the drivetrain over.

The reason i will not part with the k-10 is that my father was the owner before me . He passed away when i was twelve. He was out dirt bike riding in the desert and its the truck that he did all his messing around in . He would climb some crazy **** in it scared the **** out of me when i was little. So it has sentimental value to it big time. The k-30 is in pretty good shape so i hate to break it up but im going to. Here is some pics of the k30.
