For reference, this is a 1983-ish setup, with the equal length/interchangeable "rear" cables, as opposed to the 1985(?)+ setup with the unequal rear cables. 10 bolt e-brake parts put on a 14SF.
One of the rear cables exploded. When I tear the rear axle down to replace the cables, I would like to have all the parts needed on hand.
Looking at the references I have access to (LMC, rockauto, GM manual) there is nothing showing as "necessary" for a cable swap, except the cables.
Here is an example of what is shown as being sold:
From what I recall way back when I dealt with the 14SF swap though, there is a spring metal collared piece that locks the cable to the backing plate, inside the drum area. I remember it because I had a heck of a time getting them out in the first place.
Am I insane thinking these cables are missing that, or that I'll need to buy those separate? I notice on one of the pics of the cables being sold there is a clip that looks like it might be used to retain the cable, but it looks nothing like the spring collar I remember.
