10 bolt 6 stud to 8

You'll need hub/rotor assemblies, and also the caliper brackets. The calipers themselves are the same.

You'll need to make sure the 8 lug hub/rotor assemblies are for the same 2nd design spindles.

NB: The calipers are physically the same size and do interchange. The 3/4 ton's come with a different diameter piston and so have a different part number if you go to the parts house.

There's a tech article

http://coloradok5.com/8lugconversion.shtml

Which covers the D44, though it's the same idea for your 10-bolt.

If I remember correctly, the spindles changed for the D44's, so it's late D44's and all 10b's that interchange ... but I could be wrong.

1976 mid year was the design split and went from an inner wheel bearing of 1.75" ID to a 2" ID. So Aaron is correct that late D44 (mid 76-up) and ALL 10 bolt axles are the 2nd design style. Keep in miknd though that many people have swapped parts back and forth over the years so measure the ID of YOUR existing inner wheel bearing to determine first that yours are the 2nd design and then make sure the donor hub/rotor assmeblies you get are also 2nd design because you cannot simply replace the inner bearing with the other size as the hub is different.

I read the teck article, but as you said the calipers intercange do I still need different backing plates or just the roters. BTW my truck is used as a yard truck on our farm I built it out of junk trucks that I got from my neibours mostly for free, I`m trying to keep it that way, so the cheeper the better. Thanks for the info guys.

You WILL need new caliper brackets, the rotors on the 3/4 ton are larger diameter so the caliper bracket is different since that is what moves the caliper farther outward so the caliper doesn't hit the rotor.
