How strong are these axles? Just picked up a 6.2 with one under it. Don't know much about it. Is it a dana?

Plan is to put this combo in my 94 burb frame with the straight axle for a play toy/recovery vehichle with the crew cab on it. Thanks ahead of time for your input.

From the truck in your sig line it should be an 8 lug GM 10 bolt axle, same axle as in the 1/2 tons. They will hold up to moderate use. the general consensus is 35" tire is about the limit for them

Ok thanks. I plan on runnina set h2 wheels with 35s. Ill mostly be in mud and sand with maybe some light crawling around. I'm pretty sure the rear was a 14 bolt.

Will it still hold up if I turbo it?

The 10-bolt was made by the GM Corporate Axle division (which was spun off several years ago to form the seperate AAM axle company). It's basically equivalent to a Dana 44.

Whether or not it will hold up is all relative to how you use the truck. With 35's and possibly a turbo on the 6.2 in future it should be okay if not used hard or abused.

Axle shafts are cheap for the 10 bolt, I'd run it. It should hold up fine with a turbo 6.2 for playing in the mud.

I would run at least 4.10 gears with 35s. If the trans your planning on running has OD go with 4.56 gears

It has a 700r in it. Guess in need to do some searchin and figure out what's in them. I will be drivein this everyday for awhile so I want good economy too. The 700 has a decently low first gear so I should be ok with 4.10's right?

Sorry not good with all the gearing and stuff. Its so much easier on my quads!
