I'm kinda in a bind, is there a possibility that calipers from a GM 10 bolt will fit on GM Dana 44 caliper brackets?

The Dana 44 I have is a '76ish 8 lug 3/4 ton and the 10 bolt is from a '91 half ton

If they do that would save me the trouble of having to swap front brake lines

should work i did the same at 1 time same d44 as you and just used the calipers from my 88k5 so i didnt have to change the hoses since they used a larger banjo bolt on the d44

Dana 44 has a standard thread banjo bolt, 10 bolt has a metric thread banjo bolt. Thats your difference. Hoses shouldnt matter as the size split is 10mm/ 3/8s.

Banjo bolt size is different, 78 and older are 7/16" and 79 and newer are 10mm. They are a different brake line.

The calipers are the same physical size, yes.

But note that there are different piston sizes and the 1/2 ton ones are probably smaller than those on a 3/4's. (There's actually three sizes, IIRC, so check your particular ones for certain.)

Thanks for the quick replies everyone :waytogo:

As for different piston sizes, is it the diameter of the piston that varies or the travel?

The travel is really there to compensate for pad wear. During a regular application of the brakes, the piston doesn't move very much.

How close is the nearest parts store?

Those calipers are like $15 ea.

Get "new" ones, trade the old ones in for cores.

The D44 i got had no calipers at all, and is 1972. The calipers from my 1984 truck simply bolted on. No need to worry about banjos or lines.
