I have a 10 bolt front. I would like to convert it to crossover steering. I know I have to get flat top knuckles from a '76 and older Dana 44. I was wondering if a '69 Dana 44 would work or is this to old? A friend told me he could get the knuckles of a '69 Dana 44. Will these work?

On another note. I probably will put a 14 bolt in the rear. Will I be able to convert the front to 8 lug after I install the crossover steering with the older knuckles.

Only thing to make sure of is weather or not the doner axle has disc brakes. The drum knuckles/spindals are not going to work as they are indeed diffrent....

I was going to ask this same question today...

I already have an 8 lug 10 bolt and was wondering about this.

On another note, where would be the best place to look for the flat-top knuckles?

for the knuckles just look for a 70's k5 or PU 4wd, all you need is the passenger side knuckle, then 8 lug conversion will work of those knuckles though.

I'd go ahead and get both of the knuckles. The flat top knuckles had the TRE going in from the top insted of the bottom. I supose you could always weld and retaper the flattop so it would go in from the bottom but most people don't have the right reamer.

You can find the knuckles on Ebay for a decent price, Folks on Pirate4x4 give 'em away for 50$ a set.

Not sure if it interests you or not but HySteer (tie-rod over springs) is always an option while you are re-doing the steering.
