10 bolt differential question

Was told this 90 suburban had " 4.56 gears and limited slips front and rear" I believe nothing , i figured 3.73 and a Gov bomb rear.

It has 4.10's and i believe a rear gov bomb and no idea what this front is. Possibly a tru trac?

Do they look the same? Roll them over and look more. It looks like they both have Truetrac diffs to me. I may be wrong, but neither look like a govloc, there's no shafts for the fly weights on either, from those pictures.

looking like a nice expensive pair of eaton / detroit true trac units to me . but i dont play with 10bolts much at all to be 100% sure .

post up pics of both halfs of each unit so we can be sure . but i dont see any thing looking like a gov-loc in there to me .gov-loc is a 1 peice carrier unless 14ff unit if i recall . yours show bolts like my eaton .

here is a few pics of my 12 bolt rear in my 2wd with the detroit / eaton true track unit i installed . mine is the helical gear unit no clutches to wear out .

Ok, I'd be much happier if it was tru tracs, the rear has spring mess on the bottom that I thought a 90 ifs truck I had, had on it, that grenaded. I'll try for better pics.

nope rear is a gov-boom for sure in the 2nd pic .

front on the other had has the eaton by the looks . and some guys have tried to do a gov-loc front but they dont work to good at all .

if you know the gov-loc is inside and how it works and feels when it locks up there is no reason to be afraid of it . its when you just do full throttle and let them SLAM in to lock they go boom .

what size tires you plan to run ?

Pretty sure no more than 33" on this one, primary drivers are a second vehicle for my wife and my 17 year old daughter till she saves enough to buy her own vehicle.

I believe I have the parts from a 10 bolt 8 lug floating around. I'll keep my eye out for another 3/4T 14BFF with 4.10s.

that should be super easy to find ratio for that axle .

If the rear is 14bff you are fine especially for what you plan for it.
If you decide to change I would get it from you if it doesn't cost too much to ship. I like it for daily driving

Unfortunately it's the stock 10 bolt f/r right now.

I'm going to keep my eye open for a 14bff 4.10 and swap 8 lug outers on the front 10b.

If your looking for a gov lock from a 14Bff I have one on the shelf I believe it was a 3.73 gear I swapped out.
