10 bolt locker?

hi, im trying to get this truck ready for the local mud bogs in 2 weeks, and i havnt had the time to pull the axle apart yet but want to order the parts so they are here when i get the time. does a 91 3/4 ton 10 bolt front axle take the same lunchbox locker as a dana 44? and is it a 30 spline axle? any help would be great thank you..

It is NOT the same as a Dana 44.

As long as it's never been changed out to the older 27 spline, you will need a lock right or whatever for a 30 spline 8.5" GM 10 bolt.

EDIT: Wait, what? Wasn't the 3/4 ton pickup in 91 the IFS truck? Or maybe you have a Burb? Tell us what you have.....

I thought i seen some of the huge crewcab things in 91 with a straight axle, but i swore they were 1tons only. I believe like the last 2 or so years of the straight axle GM swapped from the 28 spline to the 30 spline for a increase in axle shaft strength. You can also do the upgrade yourself if you want, as the front and rear carrier unit is the same on the 8.5s, but the axles are hard to find in the 30 spline variety. I use a 28 spline with an Alburn posi and its not terrible, its NOT a dana 60 though, but it does get the job done if you either use small tires, or in my case Yukon axles, 39.5in and easy on the gas...

thank you for your help. my vehicle is an 89 k5. with a 14 bolt ff from an old van and 3/4ton 10 bolt from a 91 burban. (same gears)
