10 bolt locking hub play- too much??

Don’t forget to verify that the wheel hub ( not the locking hub ) internal splines are not worn out as well - this will also cause severe slop/play and eventually wear out to the point of failure.
I am guessing his warn locking hubs are aluminum if I remember correctly, I doubt they wore out cast iron hubs.

Yeah the Warn’s should be aluminum and I agree that those should not wear down the hub material but corrosion could do it over time and wear-n-tear.
I’ve seen more Spicers wear out wheel hubs but it’s possible that water intrusion could do it no matter what type of locking hub material.

For sure- although the locking hub material is some kind of aluminum/zinc cast material that is really soft… I would assume it wears much faster than the wheel hub, but who knows.

On a side note- what are the wheel hubs on a ten bolt made out of? cast iron? Or steel?

Most wheel hubs are made from a very malleable steel that will flex under stress instead of being brittle and break.
