All parts have been sold or recycled. Thanks.

Time to liquidate my stash of 1/2 and 3/4 ton axles and parts.

Here's a current list of what Ive got

1- large pile of 6 lug hubs- $30 each
1- large pile of factory (non flat top) knuckles $25 each
8- large bearing spindles- $50 each
4- spare sets of 28 spline axles- $100 for the set or $50 per side
1- complete short side 28 spline axle (have to check this one to be sure) $50
1- 30 spline carrier welded free to anybody that wants it
2- 28 spline open diffs- $25 each, or get one free for buying $100 worth of stuff
2-complete 1/2 ton axles, gears and internal condition unknown,2 have lockouts- $150 each

Will part out complete axles if I can get someone to speak for hubs, spindles and shafts

several pinion yokes, have to dig through what Ive got to be sure

will make deals for multiple purchases, all prices plus shipping. I live and work a long ways from any shipping facilities so Saturdays are usually my days I go to town and can ship stuff out so there may be a delay.

I'm looking for 3/4-ton outers for my existing front 10-bolt. Lemme know if you wind up willing to part out one of the 3/4-ton axles.

I'm slightly tempted toward the rebuilt 3.73 axle with Eaton posi, but I'm not thinking it would be cheap to ship. Can you get a shipping quote to 52402 or 54143? (Thinking 52402 would be cheaper, as it's 400 miles closer, but ya never know).

I'll see what I can do on shipping. Never shipped anything that big.

Where are you located? Do you ever venture North? I get through Iowa often and Missouri occasionally. May be able to meet in the middle somewhere if you're on the close side of Arkansas. :dunno:

I totally forgot my location. I'm in ozark Arkansas, about 30 miles south of Fayetteville. Should be able to make it to Missouri, maybe Branson or Springfield.

I'm picking up my new axles tomorrow and then it's just a matter of me swapping it in and it would be available.

Couple things I forgot about the axle, posi has been in the axle for several years and I did not rebuild it back when I did everything else but it works great. Also it has mismatched lockouts, one warn and one mm stainless but I have an extra set of mm stainless lockouts I'll put on.

I'll also have the matching 14bff rear with disks and a factory eaton posi (not gov-loc) but I haven't decided if I want to get rid of it.

We are only planning on going as far South as Columbia. Swinging through Springfield would add 3 hrs each way (340 miles round trip). I don't know anyone in that area, so we'd have to meet up at the same time. The front axle would be kinda bulky in my Saturn (not really sure that it would even fit). If I upgraded to the truck, the round-trip cost (from Upper Michigan) goes up significantly.

Maybe I should wait for you to check out shipping costs before I pursue this train of thought very far. :dunno:

Ok. What truck have you been using it on? You have pics of it in its current condition? The Eaton posi unit is clutch-based, right? With gradual application of torque (no sudden engagement)?

I have a broken Warn Premium lockout on one of my rigs right now. I'd take the mismatched one off your hands if you don't want it.

This is tempting, too. I figure shipping for this would be even worse. But I am anticipating shelling out funding for both the discs and a Detroit. And my axle still needs to have its gears set. So I could fairly easily be talked into buying both axles, if shipping worked out.

They are in my 85 k10, I drive it very regularly, almost every day so it is being used and is dirty. Ill see if I can get some pics up. Yes it is a clutch style posi, no sudden engagement.

Interested in some of the 6 lug hubs if they are in decent shape. The bearing races spin in one of mine.

Wonder what shipping would be. Got any spindles?

I bet Ive got 6 or 7 sets of hubs, as far as I know the races don't spin in any of them. Ill check and see how much they weigh, most have rotors I believe but don't know how good any of them are, all are rusty from sitting may clean up may not but shipping would be cheaper without the rotors.

Right now Ive got 4 of the large bearing spindles, 2 are really good shape and the other 2 need to be cleaned up a bit. Ive also got several complete axles that I may part out, all should have good spindles.

What classifies them as large bearing spindles? Are they smaller in diameter, or do they take a different hub?

Old D44 axles (until 1976ish, IIRC :dunno:) used relatively small bearings (and hubs with external lockouts). Later D44 and 10-bolt axles use larger bearings. A large-bearing D44 and a 10-bolt will swap outer parts. So his spare spindles could be from a D44 or a 10-bolt. As long as they are set up for large bearings (internal-lockout hubs) you should be fine.

First off to campfire and anybody else interested, I don't want to lead you on thinking that the 3.73 axle is a like new rebuild. Personally I consider it used in dang good condition. The bearings, seals and brakes I replaced about 6 months ago, also forgot that I used a solid spacer instead of a crush sleeve on the pinion. The other stuff I have no idea how long its been but it all feels tight. I did notice today when I took pics that the rubber boots on the ball joints are cracking. Tie rod ends need to be replaced, I will leave them on or take them off depending on what you want. I also drilled the hubs directly behind the rotor (right between the bearings) and added a grease zerk so you can pull the wheel and grease the bearings with a grease gun.

Ultimately have no receipts or proof that I replaced anything other than my word (I can pull the cover and take pics of the posi unit if this gets serious) so that is the main reason I consider it used in good condition instead of rebuilt, also Im still using it:whistle:

To Deuling: campfire was correct in what he said about the spindles. I cant say for sure all my spindles came from 10 bolts but they are all large bearing so the will work on 10 bolts. Also my hubs are all 10 bolt hubs so they are the large bearing hubs. I got some pics of them as well, they all have surface rust but I didn't notice any pitting so they should clean up fine

I recognize that it's not new, and that's what I'm expecting. I am getting ready to build an 8-lug 10-bolt for one of my rigs right now, and I have a 6-lug axle with the wrong gears, a rear axle with the right gears, and no 8-lug hubs. Given a set of outers I could piece together an axle with a little time. Last summer I did outers on my Suburban, with new brakes, seals, and one replaced hub, and wound up spending $300 for those parts (not counting the hub conversion).

If your axle is in good operating condition, and includes the outer stuff that I would be buying anyways, and includes the working posi unit, it will save me a fair amount of time, and it would be worth $400 to me. If you were offering this axle locally I would have already purchased it.

The wildcard is shipping. If it costs $300 more to ship the axle, I will probably just build the axle that I have. If it costs $100 or $200 I will think about it.

Same for the 14bff. I am planning to install gears and purchase a Detroit and a disc conversion. If you can get me an assembled axle for the cost of buying the parts, I would gladly buy your axle (even if it needs refreshing) and save myself the time.

So yes, I'm serious, about both the front and the rear (if you decide to sell the rear). I just need a shipping quote to decide whether or not to write the check.

Ok, good deal. I didn't want to be pulling the wool over anybody's eyes.

As soon as I find a place to get a shipping quote I'll post it up. I got my new axles yesterday and since they are in good shape and bolt in I'll probably be swapping them within the next week.

Ok. What truck are they coming out of? I saw the new axle picture in your scout thread.

These are in my 85 k10. It sees mostly street use with 33-12.50s. Only time it really gets used in 4wd is winter.

The scout has the 4.10 geared axle with a welded diff. Figure I'll end up parting it out but it will be a while before that on gets swapped. Planning on doing the 3.73 set from the truck this week.

FedEx was a no go on shipping. I requested a quote through a local fastenal, probly be Monday before I get a reply.

TTT with updated list. Several things gone but I still have lots of axles, spindles, and 6 lug hubs. Have a few gear sets just need to crack the covers and see what's good.

Updated list of what's left and prices

8- large bearing spindles $25 each
4- sets of 28 spline axles $75 per set(long side/short side/2 stubs)

4.10 gear set $50
3.73 gear set $50

Set of 8-lug hubs with backing plates, pretty sure the inner races are loose so I'll take $50

Several covers, 28 spline carriers, knuckles and 6 lug hubs make offer. (the spindles and 6 lug hubs make excellent swing out tire carriers)

I do have one homemade heavy duty cover and a barely used set of moog ball joints, make offer.

Around christmas I'm making a couple scrap runs to clean up my junky yard and this stuff is on the top of the list so make some offers, as long as its worth my time I'll probly take it.
