Thanks man, do you or anybody else have a part nuber i tried searching for the parts number thread but could not find it.

sorry i dont have the p#, the guy i bought my 10blt from gave me the socket as he was going with a 60 and had no further use for it

You can sometimes use a screwdriver on one of the outer notches and a mallet to bang them off. I highly reccomend the socket >$10 and easy to find. Also the only way I would put it back togeather is to use the socket on a torque wrench so that you get the bearing preload correct.

Snap ring pliers, dental pick, and the magic socket. Four-pin variety, not six. Pretty sure Kragen/Checker/Schucks and Vatozone both carry them; anything that says "1/2 ton front wheel hub socket" is the one.

Try going to autozone.com or somewhere , and searching 1/2 ton hub socket.

Ok i bought the spindle socket got the lock nuts off and one wheel bearing came out. But the rotor and hub won't slide off what is the next step? I am going to run this 3/4 ton for awhile thought i would be a good learning experience to disassemble it. Any other dissassembly tips would be great?

Yes the calipers are off. I will list every thing i have taken off maybe that will help. I took off the warn locking hub, the outer lock nut, iner lock nut, washer, then one will wheel bearing came out. The hub and rotor is very loose it just won't come off, like there is a clip or something holding it but i can't think of what is holding it on. Is there a step im missing?

Sounds right  I'm thinking you may have to jiggle the rotor/hub assembly ... there is another bearing back there, but it comes off with the hub.

I've got another question, i have been reading the tech article on swaping to 8 lug outers. From what i understand the 3/4 ton wheel bearings are larger, and i cant reuse my 1/2 ton wheel bearings?

Second question:
What exactly is the bearing race, I am pretty sure it was the thing i had to knock out of the hub to get the inner wheel bearing out. But i just want to make sure i under stand?

IIRC, the 1/2 tons came in different sizes, depending on age and axle type (like D44's have two sizes, and the 10B's use the newer size.) The bearings depend on the spindle, and not whether the axle is 6- or 8-lug.

In your particular case, I'd just mix-and-match parts to make it all fit. Pick the best set of bearings and spindles and match 'em.

Bearing race is the outer part of it, IIRC. You prolly had to remove a seal to get the bearing out.

One last question

I am about to start my 8 lug outer swap right now. How do i set the bearing preload on the wheel bearings. I am guessing i need to use my torque wrench and torque down the spindle lock nuts? Thanks in advance

And i got all new wheel bearings and the two races and the two seals for the hubs.

Thanks for the exploded view man. I just thought of one more thing, what about the backing plate nuts what should they be torqued to?
