Lost manual for 81 rear end and can't remove filler plug.
stripped out trying? How much gear oil does it take
to fill. i put 2 quarts in through the breather hoes. Am i ok
or have i overfilled? and how do i get the Dam filler plug out?
Any help is appreciated

Heat the plug with a torch. Dont get so hot as to mess up the pumpkin. Just enough to get it broken loose. Have some pliers or vise grips on hand to turn the plug loose.
 
Same thing happened to me. I used a Easy-out(extractor) on it. I think it holds about 2 1/2 quarts of fluid.

Remove the diff cover and use the easy out as mentioed above. You may need the heat aswell. you also might want to drill the center of the plug to release some of the presure. Make sure you clean out pumpkin area really well to get out the shavings from drilling the plug.

I would like to mention that heating the plug is the opposite of what you want to do. You want to heat and expand teh surrounding metal, NOT the plug. Heating the plug may help to loosen up some corrosion, but expanding the plug (making it seal tighter to the housing) when trying to remove it from a tight fit is counterproductive. Same thing as exhaust manifold studs...heat the manifold, not the stud.

A large EZ-Out (like 3/8") would work out great. Sears has sets with the EZ-Out and the appropriate-sized drill bit packaged for you so there's no guesswork involved. Spray some PB Blaster around the outside of the plug first, to start cutting through the rust on the threads, then get your tools together. Drill as close to the center of the plug as you can. You don't need to drill all the way through the plug, that'll just make more work for you. Spin the drill bit fairly slow, and put a drop or 2 of motor oil on the plug, just above where you're drilling, every 10-15 seconds for cooling. When you put the EZ-Out in, don't gorilla-torque it from the get-go, gradually increase the torque. Should work out just fine.
