Well, I finally got my D60 home and in the garage. I will list what I have for it and then I'll ask a few questions:

D60 passenger drop king pin front end. It has Power Train hubs (Selectro type).
I was given two laser-cut spring plates (thanks Speedo)
Will be receiving Sky cross over on Saturday
Purchased loaded calipers from NAPA.
Purchased Yukon king pin kits.

Still need a 2wd gear box and u-bolts.

Questions:
1. If I get a steering gear from the same year (1990) will the power steering hoses thread right in?
2. Will the original brake hoses bolt to the D60 calipers?
3. What grade bolts should I use for the two straight bolts on the passenger spring mount?
4. Since this is my first D60 endevor, what am I missing besides 35 spline outers, locker, and high steer?

1. I believe so
2. Depends on the year of the D60. I think they changed in the late '70s
3. 8, is there another grade?
4. New hubs to go with the 35 spline outers?

Many people miss this but I have this info to offer that makes a lot of sense. Some may dispute it. The gap that is between the spring perch and spring plate on the dif of a 60 is the reason why, I think, the 2 bolts in the spring plate sometimes break off- the twisting action. I filled that gap with a piece of 3/4" plate with 2 holes drilled in it. Because of the degree shim one side will require an additional washer. You can see it in this pic pretty well.

Just to make sure I understand you correctly. You are talking about this, correct?

If so, what you describe does make sense to me. Is this just an issue with D60s swapped in place of 10B/D44s? I assume it varies with spring pack thickness and whether or not you have a zero rate.

I can't see your pic but based on what you said you have the right idea. You are right, it does matter how thick the spring pack is as to how much you have to "fill". I think zero rates would make it worse - Allow the spring/axle to twist more putting a side load on those 2 bolts. This piece keeps the two parts from possibly twisting individually. Encourages them to move as one.

Durn you non-members! :D I think we are on the same page. The piece's left edge lines up pretty much exactly with the left edge of the diff cover and is just inboard of the sping pack in your pic. It shows up as a slightly brighter rectangle in that location.

hmm... now im confused. i was reading the tech articles regarding swapping a D60 for a 10b, and it seemed to be a rather direct bolt in swap. aside from the U-bolt situation, or was that just the rear??? crap, i gotta go look again.

but just to clarify, is the D60 a direct bolt in swap, or do you have to do all the extra stuff like the 2WD steering box and all that?

You can maintain the factory steering set up. It is an easy bolt in process. If/WHEN you go crossover you will need a 2wd gear box. Your present draglink will fit right in the 60 steering arm but will require adjustment. I would recommend at the very least replacing the white kingpin bushing on the knuckles. Chances are they are cracked. After the 60 swap I only rode mine a couple times off road cuz I couldn't steer the thing. I relyed heavily on front digs to turn the truck to the left.

ah, thanks for the info, i think ive decided the D60 is a bit to bad ass for what ill be using the truck for, so ill be looking for an 8 lug 10 bolt or D44 instead. i wont need the 2WD gearbox for that will I???? and just out of curiosity, why the swap to the 2WD gearbox in the first place for the D60 swap???

YOU DONT NEED A 2WD GEARBOX FOR A 60 SWAP. It's for crossover only.
