Do you guys think 10 bolts will hold up to alot of abuse if the truck does't weigh that much? I am wondering on switching to 3/4 or 1 ton axles, but my Jimmy doesn't weigh that much anymore. I don't have doors, no top, no glass except windshield, no fenders, cut off half of the quarter panels, no tailgate, no hood.

I think it also has a lot to do with terrain, tire size, maintenance and upkeep, engine power, your right foot and how you use it. I am pleased with my 10 bolts. So satisfied that I am installing $1500 of lockers and gears in them this weekend.

Is it a bad thing when my reality check bounces?

I will be doing rockcrawling, and will either use my 35s or step up to 37s. I maintenance them regularly. The only problem I had was my spider gears shattered when I rolled my truck. I was just thinking to put a lock rite in the rear since Ive regeared them already. I have a Goodwrench 350 in it. I think the one with 250 hp.

I don't do rock crawling, but I think from everything I have seen, heard, and read that you are pushing your luck. With that kind of horsepower and that tire size, you would probably be better to upgrade.

It all depends on you weight....

Look at Shannon Campbell, for example... He ran "Pinky", a custom tube chassied, extended, 49 Willys. It had a mild 350 and he ran 35's and 37's. He ran a 10 bolt in the front and a 12 bolt in the rear. He also ran this in the ARCA circuit for many years!!! His father wa quoted as saying, that he only broke one axle in the 7 years he ran that set-up! Not sure what "Pinky" weighed though...

I'd upgrade to 3/4 ton just for some piece of mind. I blew up the spider gears this past weekend in my 10 bolt running 35's. I had to get towed home. I'd rather spend the money to upgrade rather than pay the tow guy everytime. With regular maintinance and a lighter rig, there's still a chance to break.

You'll still be blowing 297 joints (among other things) rockcrawling.
