Ok, kinda feel dumb here.......the f/r 10 bolts under my '89 K5.....are they GM 8.5 or 8.75?? i was hunting parts down and i see what must be a car version and truck version, which are the K5??

8.875" is a 12 bolt. There are 7.5" and 7.625" 10 bolts that came under cars and some S10's, like you found K5's are 8.5"

Ok thanks, got confused for some stupid reason and i was looking for rear bearings and the set i got too in summit apparently fits 8.5 AND 8.875.....must just have same size axle shafts

a suprising number of parts interchange between the 10 and 12 bolts, including brakes. so far i like my 12 bolt better than i liked my 10...for one thing i haven't broken the carrier in the 12...yet .

I've seen mention of an 8.2" 10 bolt too...I'm thinking also a car application.

Great, now the front brake is locked up and the axle shaft wiggles pretty good at the knuckle, u joint is good though

That means that the spindle bearing is shot. You're going to need to remove the hub/rotor assembly then the spindle and look at the back side of the spindle to see if the spindle bearing is either pitted or completely disintegrated. At least the SBK-1 (spindle bearing kit) is cheap, something like $12.00 the last time I bought one.

Ok thanks, that shouldn't be too much to handle. Got a mud run on Sunday and go figure this pops out! Then I have to get caliper working, I was wondering why it drove hard
